People are like diamonds

We are formed under pressure,

As they are; and sometimes

With extreme conditions, also

Like diamonds, our brilliance

Is hidden under our outer layers

Which may be buried deeply,

So deeply

As humans, we need to cherish

And trust our inner spirits

To break through the hard

Exterior wall and expose

The true gem beneath

To do as Pink Floyd put it:

“Shine on you crazy diamond!”
