SHABBY UNCHIC

Hands of Homeless Man with Change in Cup

SHABBY UNCHIC

Our lives are
So precious
We take what we have here
For granted
Most of the time

We could be living
In a war zone
Not a condo
We might be starving
For food, not entertainment

Imagine not having books
Television, movies, or iphones
Picture yourself unwashed
Wearing shabby clothes
With flies for companions

Consider that
You might not
Survive another day
Due to war, famine
Or disease

The lives we are living
Have been charmed
Up to this point
We have been blessed
And most of us are oblivious

These images
Seem far too foreign
Or unreal to us, now
We don’t subscribe to
The real world, we’re too busy texting
