Cocoon, digital art and poetry by Joan Ellen Gage

COCOON

Creating calm

in your life

is as essential

to your existence

as oxygen

We have become

hurried harried

hustling husks

we have forgotten

to breathe

Nullify the noise of

modern life

shipwreck yourself

on your island aerie

nurture your native side

Unplug the phone

cut off your cell

become incommunicado

turn off the tube

acquiesce to quiet

Bask as bird song

blends with the

beating of your heart

knowingly choose to be

a universe of one

Then, gratified and grounded

will your authentic

sated-self slip

into your cocoon

of silence
