To Chase the Clouds Away

Here I am, in this, my sixth decade of
life, a journey, probably resembling yours to a
degree. So, tell me, do you also have a personal
dark cloud that follows you for much of your
life? Like a dog, ambling in your footsteps,
content to be near. Conversely, this

companion does not bring you joy, it
forbodes, exudes darkness, offering
gifts of anxiety and stress. I have
attempted to outrun this
interloper. I have exited marriage,
relationships, moved to different

locales. Still, this dusky shadow
manages to track me and
appear when I least suspect,
materializing, eclipsing my
days. I confess, it isn’t always
visible. It’s adept at camouflage,

lurking behind stunningly white, bright
puffs riding high in the heavens, that
promise redemption, absolution, and
release. From time to time, I
inhale a deep breath of restoring air. It
offers a respite from the stalking,

gifting me an interval to heal from
gloomy days. I try to bottle some
sunshine for future hauntings, for
bathing in that light, surrounding myself with
music, poetry and those who love me. A
potent mixture, certain to chase the clouds
away.
