When I Decide, poem and photo-creation, by Joan Ellen Gage

Karen in Key horizontal 2 signed

When I decide, I’ll let me know

Chasing my own

tail, pondering, do I

stay, or do I

go?

Do I hold the

key, am I the

key? When will I

know?

A poem for International Women’s Day–One Tribe, by Joan Ellen Gage

DSCN0546

ONE TRIBE

Have you felt

with passing years

a more pressing

need to connect

with other women,

to share observations

and laughter,

to offer advice

or garner wisdom?

Do you feel drawn

as if by a magnetic force

to be with your own kind?

For these women

are a tribe, your tribe.

No one else will ever

understand your struggle

as they will.

Women are our people,

when we come together

we feel a oneness,

a sisterhood united.

When we come together,

we are at home.

INVISIBLE, by Joan Ellen Gage

bird nest 2 signed

Invisible

See me, do you

see me?

I am here, and

exist, just

because I am

hidden in my

nest, just

because I don’t

call to you,

does not mean

I am

invisible.

You are caught up

in your lives,

staying with the

familiar. You

disremember I

am still here, you

forget, and I don’t

want to be

needy, so I

stay in my nest, and

try to

sing.

Aflame, poetry and photo-creation by Joan Ellen Gage

AFLAME TITLED BEST

Aflame

Have you discovered that

you are not alone in this world?

Humans cannot exist on this planet as an island of one.

And, have you found your

Higher Power, Spirit, God, or

whatever you choose to call him/her/it?

Have you plugged your “adaptor”

into this power source, and experienced

enlightenment, and/or a power surge?

We must believe that our existence

is much more than just that.

Find what ignites your heart of hearts,

be drawn in like moth to flame.

Glow with inner fire;

life will never be the same!

ARISE FROM YOUR ASHES,poetry and photo-creation by Joan Ellen Gage

MY LAST CHANCE BEST

Arise from Your Ashes

The dream is still alive and waiting. It

waits for you to restore it to wholeness, and

inhale life into the

very lungs of hope, to

deliver the kiss to your

sleeping beauty heart’s desire.

The time has come to break into the

vault of your psyche and

free the urn of creativity,

turning life’s ashes into a new vision.

Come unearth your treasure; stake

your claim, rediscover your destiny. Join me,

arise from your ashes, rise up; be reborn!

Root-bound, by Joan Ellen Gage

KAREN ROOTBOUND BEST

The Root of the Problem

It has been suggested

that when your life seems without joy

or laughter, and you have no interests,

you may be root-bound and need re-potting!

What I take away from this,

is the need to nourish the soul, our roots,

to improve our condition. Subject our foliage

to sunshine, or to the warmth of human touch,

and give our bodies, our plants, sustenance.

To strengthen and green-up, expose ourselves to

fresh air, drink clean water, mist our outer leaves.

Don’t forget to feed our heads with

literature, music and friendship.

Then, may we blossom and reach toward the sun!
