Frankenstein’s Heart

I am a survivor. My life has

been a result of many compromises,

skirmishes and personal

battles. There were good times,

certainly. I remember the highlights,

 have made peace with the lows—

disappointments, infidelity, deceit,

rejection, and control.

Somehow, I manage to stay

open, after time passing,

despite the negativity. It’s a

place I get to eventually, either

a gift, or a curse, I’m not sure.

Ultimately, hope returns,

shining through the darkness. The heart

heals, its many scars knit together, ‘til it

resembles Frankenstein’s battered heart.

After a while, the pain

becomes tolerable, the past

recedes, now existing in

innumerable files of gray

matter, the bitter, the sweet, the

stories of my life. I

turn the page, a new chapter

begins, now.
