Never Surrender?

I poured my aching heart

out in a long letter,

quaking, now

literally shaking in my

shoes, awaiting an

answer, fighting those

damn expectations, that

keep popping up, like

spam messages, I’ve

tried to rein them

in, to flatten the

curve of hope. Love

still seeps out of the

compartments I’ve

tried to stuff them

into. Love still

exists in my cells, I

distract them as

much as possible,

medicate them, but

they challenge me, see

how they are

waving those little

white flags, dammit.
