The Heart Is the Matter
How can one explain the
condition of the human heart? We
feel fathomless joy, are
lifted up in love.
Conversely, we are
plummeted to the depths, with
sorrow or wanting, to
feel the closeness of another’s
beating coeur, to need to
touch, to be held tightly, so
tightly, as to overcome the pain, the
hurt that has occupied that
sterile structure for oh so long.
I wish my heart was
tameable, that it would not
rush to love, to emotion, not
devour words of amor that leave it
palpating, waiting and wanting more,
more, more–damned poetic soul. If
excised today, you would find
emblazoned upon it, your mark. You
know who you are, fire starter.
